How do u know if your child needs ABA?

It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT

Birth Defects And Autism
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else out there have a child who was also born with a birth defect aside from being diagnosed with ASD? My daughter was born with a rare birth defect called Gastroschisis. She was born with all of her intestines, her bladder and ovaries on the outside of her body. Since there's all this research connecting ASD to the gut, I was curious if her defect could have a connection to her ASD. It's very uncommon for the two to have any correlation or it is not known. Any input would be… read more

Does Anyone Know Where We Can Obtain Funding For Developing A Program For Young ASD Adults (age 21+) ?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. There are also no affordable facilities or programs for young adults in our area. As a group we would like to develop a program similar to the one they have at school but lack the funds. I've researched online but was only shown sites to obtain funding for chartering a school which is not what we… read more

He was on respiradone and the doctor changed it to invega which worked for the first 7 days and then all hell broke loose whe. He started to become so hyperactive and was eating until he vomits. The doctor then changed him to sere quell which also did not work because of the side effect call ankathesia ( excuse the spelling) a state which he becomes like so hyper that he will not stay still… read more

Is Classic Autism Still Rare? I See Mostly Cases Of HFA, Asperger's, Or Regressive Autism After Vaccination.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I read many stories online and in books, and it seems to me like most modern cases of autism are high-functioning, Aspberger's, or ADD/ADHD. Or, when it's more severe autism, it tends to be regressive after a period of normal development, accompanied by medical issues like ear infections, fevers, rashes, etc.

Is Classic (born-with-it) Autism still a relatively rare thing?

And if you're born with it, is it purely genetic or could it have been caused by some kind of prenatal assault like toxic… read more

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have try to talk to his father about making sure that he gets it but got told that he can give it to himself which the doctor says no because of where he is on the spectrum. Genetic Testing
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son's new pediatrician suggested we get genetic testing on my son. His previous pediatrician also suggested it when he was diagnosed but we didn't want to do it because we didn't see the testing changing the outcome. Will doing the testing help with his autism or is it not worth it?
