we just moved back from a long stay in the middle east and our son is autistic with ID and he is now 25 years old. we live in virginia now and looking for any program that can help us place him even if it is a private as all the state funded has a long waiting list. so we can pay for his placement until such time we get the waiver approval. please help us if you you have a name or a resource of a consultant to guide us through

Does anyone else out there have a child who was also born with a birth defect aside from being diagnosed with ASD? My daughter was born with a rare birth defect called Gastroschisis. We have been going back and forth. With our 25 year old son who is autistic, with aggressive behaviors. I read many stories online and in books, and it seems to me like most modern cases of autism are high-functioning, Aspberger's, or ADD/ADHD. Or, when it's more severe autism, it tends to be regressive after a period of normal development, accompanied by medical issues like ear infections, fevers, rashes, etc.

Is Classic (born-with-it) Autism still a relatively rare thing?

Help my ex wont give my son his meds on the weekends or vacation time he has him. so my son goes days without it and comes home more upset and violent with his sisters and me. My son's new pediatrician suggested we get genetic testing on my son. His previous pediatrician also suggested it when he was diagnosed but we didn't want to do it because we didn't see the testing changing the outcome. Will doing the testing help with his autism or is it not worth it?
