I have 4 children. The two oldest, with ASD and learning disabilities are now 24 and 22. Before entering school, my youngest son showed signs of delay but I was reassured he was not on the spectrum. Hi Christy,
There are several charters.. There is one in Raleigh, a tech charter in RDU, a charter in WF but, I hear has a wait list now... See if you can get him on that.. He's going into 6th grade correct?
In Raleigh there is a prestigious boys charter school. I really wanted Ben to go to.. It just was for him..
If I can help search please let me know. π Lisa
I think he would do much better in a charter school but have not been able to get him into one. I believe my oldest was able to graduate because he went to a charter school starting in 9th grade. My next son went to public school the entire time and it was a nightmare and he dropped out in 10th grade. So for now I homeschool my 11 year old which I started when I began to have the same trouble with the public schools as I did with my other two. I can't afford private school. What is a homeschool co-op?
How old is your son and would you ever consider a non public school?
We have had no choice. Our School System has failed our son in our eyes. So we are opening a Homeschool co-op. Because our young teen can't be the only one!
I think they accept insurance now, too!
Thank you. I am familiar with TEACCH in Chapel Hill. They were a big help with my 22 year old but I have not dealt with them in a long time so I actually had forgotten them as a resource. Thanks for reminding me!
