I have seen a significant plummet of stimming, more focus, and less picky eating :)

I eliminate certain dyes and additives, reduce others, and then add in more healthy options, for instance if we are going to work on veggies it will be greens and carrots, if we are going to work on protein it will be the most affordable and quality red and white meats, if we are going to focus on anything else its about sensory expansion. I recommend fish oil for cognitive, multi-vitamin with minerals from a naturals store, probiotics for upper GI and moderated intake of low-grade grains for lower GI.

@A MyAutismTeam Member, what brand/strains did you use?

We definitely saw improved communication, happiness, and less tantrums after using VSL3 probiotics, rotating sometimes with L reuteri (BioGaia) and L Rhamnosus (WellBelly, thinking of switching to Custom Probiotics).

Thanks very much! I'll do the probiotics at night before bed, then. So far Ethan has been on the probiotic for less than a week and yesterday he had a sore tummy and a bit of diarrea, which I think is a good sign, it's his gut "resetting". We tried the GF diet for a month, we couldn't stand it any longer than that, but there was no effect, either good or bad in Ethan, so we chucked it. I also just ordered something called Cytoflora, which is supposed to be used with probiotics and it detoxes and lines the gut with good bacteria...the reviews I read about it were raving, so I'll give it a go. I'll have a look at Dr McBride as well, I've heard the name already...

Yes, I never thought it would. We didn't start giving them to our son until the age of 16 yrs. I can't even begin to imagine had we started him on them at 2.5 yrs. The most remarkable transformation I have seen is that his immune system is like King Kong. In the past, he was always ill, and his asthma was out of control, now its nonexistent. He also has no stomach issues either. Before, he always had seemed to have a hard time with digestion and his bowel movements were horrible. Apparently, I had heard that probiotics are important for better medicinal and vitamin absorption too. It also does something for the brain, I don't remember what it is though. Probiotics doesn't cure Autism.
