Has anyone ever heard of Angel Sense? If u have have u tried it? My son will be starting classes in September with BCIU/early intervention and im worried how he will do and how teachers will treat him. It has a tracker if ur kid goes missing and u can even listen in on conversation wherever they are. It snaps to clothing or backpack. Wanted to know if its worth getting for the price and is it really reliable. Its rated 5 star's. Let me know what u guys think.
You could look into Apples Air Tags. They are really just for gps, and don’t have video or audio capabilities, but you can hang or place them almost anywhere. If your child has a tendency to take off… read more
My friend called me to ask about going to a meeting with the school without her husband. Her son's teacher has invited her to a I&RT (Intervention & Resource Team) meeting, and her husband can't attend. I told her if it was an IEP meeting, she could inform them that she wanted to record it, and that she could use her hubby's absence & her desire to pay attention to the meeting rather than note-taking, as her stated reason (not that she needs one, but it helps to put the staff at ease, I… read more
hello,
my son is 4 years old and on the spectrum. Im having a hard time finding an elementary school for him. He starts kindergarten in September and I feel like every school I call for open house never knows how to answer any questions about children with autism. They're very dismissive and I'm kind of getting discouraged. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
I am also in NYC and can relate. I went through the turning 5 process last year. I was told to apply to several schools while awaiting the IEP meeting which occurred sometime in May. Afterwards I… read more
Do you notice that some days your child is "with you" mentally..and the other day they are off...it's like an every other day thing??
Yes good days and bad days. That what it is.
Anyone know of a good activity group in the Bridgewater, NJ area for children with ASD? My son is only 22 months and most of what I'm finding is for older children.
how long should a behaviorist spend on an FBA? The school is finally agreeing to do one, and sent a consent form. It only includes 2.5 hours of observation of my child. It just doesn't seem like enough. It also includes an hour each with teachers, parents & records.
This doesn't seam like nearly enough time. I just want to make sure if we do it, it's done right. Any advice?
Thanks for the info. I don't even know what behavior we should be addressing, because the school is stonewalling me as to what is actually happening in the school. So complicated. He's doing well in… read more
I think it's perform care? It used to be called DDD. I haven't signed up yet, but our social worker says they're open 24 hours to help you sign up and provide help when you need it. Good luck
