Does Anyone Have Any Advice Or Experience On Using Medication For Aggression For A 5 Year Old.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

My son is 5 years old and was diagnosed with autism at 20 months old. Until this year we never considered using medication. At the end of last year he started hitting, kicking, and biting when someone said no to him, or at times for no reasons at all. He has been on the GFCF diet for years and have also taken many supplements, but the aggression seems to be growing. We just fought to get him in a private school and he should be starting soon. I have been going back and forth in my mindā€¦ read more

Then Friday night out of nowhere really can't pin point a trigger he was aggressive punch fridge then pillows and I see this look and he kept stepping towards me and then "boom now it's me"!
He was at my chin in 2015 even then couldn't restrain him he ended up on 3 hold total Sept to November 2015.
Now this time isn't firstā€¦ read more

Problems With Putting Too Much Food Into Mouth?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Does anyone else have a problem with their kids putting too much food in their mouth at once? Little Man will literally put almost an entire half sandwich in his mouth at once and then try to chew it up. Is this an autism/sensory thing? That possibility just occured to me today but I don't know if there's actually a connection there. Anyone else have experience with this?

Managing Aggression And SIB
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I have a 6, almost 7-year-old son with severe autism. For 5 years he's engaged in aggression and SIB. The frequency and intensity of these behaviors waxes and wanes, and we have little understanding as to why. We've tried all sorts of behavioral interventions, but the best we've managed to do is temporarily decrease aggression or to shift the topography (last year he was biting self and others; now he grabs and hits and scratches self and others). There are these really intense episodesā€¦ read more

Gerald Mc Boing Boing!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

"Just suppose," said Ted "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, "there was a little kid who didn't speak words but only weird sounds?"

Does this sound familiar to anyone here? I came upon this great little book by Dr. Seuss and had to recommend it. Not only is it a fun read, but there is also a very, very important message for our kids. It's about being different and finding your niche in life. http://www.amazon.com/Gerald-McBoing-Boing-Litt...

Bad Behavior
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

Our 6 yard old granddaughter has been acting out almost daily for a while now and we are very troubled by it and can not find and answer as to why. This doesnā€™t happen in school. Sheā€™s the perfect student per her teachers. Sheā€™ll come home from school and a few minutes after sheā€™s been home it happens. She will blurt outsomething like ā€œ get me my milkā€ or something like that. Itā€™s and order. When we say something to her she doesnā€™t answer verbally, only ā€˜gruntsā€™ she makes this grunting soundā€¦ read more

Many children do this! Your son is not the only one. Some children hold it together at school ( they donā€™t want to stand out ) but when they get home they feel safe and let it all out.

Potty Training
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

My daughter who has ASD is 2 and A half, she is a very big 2 and a half year old. Not really fat just tall and solid but none the less out growing a size six diaper (they are barely strapping) so I guess I have several questions here..... how old were some of your children on the spectrum when they potty trained? What were some of their challenges and things you found that worked well for them? And if potty training isnā€™t an option has anyone had to order diapers bigger than a 6 and where is theā€¦ read more
