No, but I'm interested to see if anyone else has. I have a 9 year old that we have struggled with behavioral problems in school, he is in an ASD classroom and this year his behavior has escalated to new levels! He has one teacher & one aid. I have fought with the school to get his own one on one para-pro. Initially, I was told his behavioral issues had to be 'quantified' so I asked the school to keep track of how many times he's hit, kicked, head butted, and now furniture is starting to fly in the classroom. Long story but I have had our BCBA go to the school on numerous times and make observations/recommendations. This year we found out the school has a 'behavioral consultant' (not sure of the credentials that comes with the title) but he observed our son for a few hours! We are meeting today to discuss another 'Plan'. This is a battle I've been going round and round with for years! Our son's BCBA joins me at all the IEP's and other meetings. Now that we have 'quantified the need' for a one on one, they are hesitant to give him one because then he'll become reliant on one and not be able to function and work independently! The are trying to get something called 'Follow that Kid' which is a temporary aid that would be assigned to our son. We are 6 weeks into this school year and things are getting worse by the week! We have tried different meds but nothing seems to work. He is such a fussy eater and we've tried to introduce gluten free but he won't eat it. He receives in home ABA and he also receives speech and OT outside of school. His behaviors are starting to carry over at home.
