Confused On The Education For My Autistic Son, Integrated Homeschool For Special Needs Or Normal School Education
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am living in Malaysia
The definition of homeschool here is a center setup with small number of students. (Homeschool here may have different definition to most other countries, where it means strictly doing studies in own home).

My son is 7 years old, high functioning autism. Currently placed in nursery (preschool daycare)
- Childhood Appraxia of speech (now can say one word or regular word)
- Still doesn't know how to talk or communicate with peers
- not a picky eater.
- doesn't have any… read more

Good Schools In Irvine, California?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). The school has offered the basics, and not even OT! After sending letters she will finally have an assessment. She is transitioning to Kinder. At this point we are willing to move wherever services are… read more

Advice For Social Events
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have 2 questions. The 1st one is how do you control parents at social events that you do not know very well when they overreact to your child’s obsessive/odd behaviors (repeating phrases- which they just stared at him when he would walk up and say his phrase, obsessing over an object, lining up things). I had parents that I didn’t know trying to clean up his lines and taking things away from him that he thought he shouldn’t be messing with (like balloons). It drove me crazy!!! I don’t want to… read more

Can recognize 1 to 10.
Basic vocabs are fine, though limited - cat, car, house, flower, fan, etc etc.....
