Autism Services In Savannah GA
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Our 7 year old has continued to regress despite our best efforts with ABA, speech, OT, STAR program at school, etc. We've tried everything possible. Still no language and not potty trained. Attention span is so poor that teaching him any task is extremely challenging. We are trying augmented communication with a tablet but his interest level is very low. We started looking into the Savannah GA area recently. Can anyone comment on services and there?
Thank you so much!

Did 'You' Regress @A MyAutismTeam Member? Did you have the teaching staff 'Regress'. Whenever an ASD Individual 'Regresses' everyone around that Individual needs to go back to that timeframe and use those tools that were successful then and rebuild from there.

You don't mention medication. It sounds like he may need pharmaceutical assistance. He is young and medication can be very helpful in promoting a successful environment for his mind to mature.

I'm so sorry to suggest leaving the South entirely - or at least moving to North Carolina which has a bit of "Northeastern" influence in the Research Triangle Park area which also, I understand, has some good autism programs. But overall, in the South you will enjoy good cost of living and low taxes but terrible services. Do it while you still are in the school age - in adulthood access is harder everywhere but is at least facilitated through transition by the schools.

He might have another disorder or medical problem altogether in addition to autism. This happened to one of my friend's sons and he ended up having to go back through genetic and other testing to see what else was going on. He got an additional diagnosis on top of autism. So you might have to go back through the diagnosis' process again. So sorry to hear this.

We use melatonin and colonizing for sleep, methylphenidate for daytime ADHD like symptoms. I do not perceive stress, he is mostly a very happy boy. I have no idea what to do except maybe "regressing back" like GarryKellog mentioned above
