How Do You Introduce Proloquo2go ?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

We are considering buying the app Proloquo2go for our five-year-old son. He's largely nonverbal and responds well to images
Has anyone had success in buying the app using medical insurance? (It's expensive and I feel like we can argue it's essential for communication)
We are also debating whether we should buy separate tablet for the app. He's very attached his iPad, which currently has all of his games and videos. Will it be too distracting to have his communication tool mixed up with his… read more

We were able to obtain an iPad with the proloquo2go app from our school district. If your child is in special ed, submit a request with support from the teacher. My son uses his at school during the day and takes it home with him.

William has Prolo Q on his Ipad used for entertainment. He switches between it and videos, games, etc easily. It was well worth the money. Insurance paid for his expensive AACD which uses the Compass program. His first device wor led wonderfully for several years. The second device has not been as helpful to him due to many technical difficulties, untrained school personnel and just quality of device. Since insurance covered his expensive device which has been such a disappointment compared to his first, I did not even try to get insurance to pay. I was later advised by insurance that AACD to include programs like prolo Q are only approved every several years. Would encourage you to invest in Prolo Q or seek a grant for communication program. There are some free communication programs to try as well.

We have met with a speech pathologist, and I foresee the problems you're talking about -- we strictly control his access to the iPad and for AAC he'd need it all the time. Thanks for the feedback.
