Best Buddies does not have a chapter anywhere near us. Does anyone know of a volunteer organization I can turn to to try and get him matched up with someone? Or any other ideas? Thanks in advance.
Is there a chapter of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) located near where you live? That would be a good starting point, because ASAN chapters typically have multiple Autistic adults who'd make great mentors as members. ASAN's chapters are currently under orders to become independent organizations, so you may have to contact an ASAN representative directly to see if there used to be a local chapter that recently became an independent organization.
Hope this helps!
Thanks so much-I will look into that!
Ricker1111 what I don''t need, as a mom reaching out for help,is criticism. Of course, we have been trying to help him with his since he was 2 years old. Peer therapy groups, buddies at school, church activities, and so much more. The reason I posted is because I am always open to trying more and something new. I will check out AIT right away-thanks for telling me about it.
