I'm Curious As To People's Opinions On Medication Such As Adderall, Ritalin Or Even CBD Or Cannabinoids.

We made the decision upon our sone ASD diagnosis to absolutely not get Adderall or Ritalin for our son unless he consistently self harms or cannot attend school unless he's medicated. I am a supporter of medical cannabis and understand CBD may help but as I understand the research is anecdotal at best. I would like to get him to function within the school system, and society in general, until highschool if at all possible without the use of Adderall and Ritalin.

If I had to chose I would chose CBD or Cannabinoids.

I wish I knew more information about cannabis. If it helped my son, all day long, then I'd choose cannabis, because it's helped others in other areas. My son has been on ADD medication since he was six (he's 12). We just took him off of it, because a new medication seems to be helping him and we wanted to see if the ADD medication was making him irritable. So far, that's what we think is happening - Adderall was irritating him. The new medication is risperidone. It's supposed to help with irritibility caused by autism. It made a huge difference, but we wanted to see if taking away a Adderall would help elevate more of that irritation. It did help him focus, so we're worried about what's going to happen when school starts back up.
