I playfully hope there are programs that will support our children with autism as adults? With autism on the rise so much this should be a top priority. Will there ever be a cure for autism? Like me all of you want your children to adapt to life as much as possible when they are older. Especially for people who have a only child like we do. Thanks all in advance for reading my comment.
I was really lucky to be able to talk and do several miniate things but was not good at somethings there again wife is a big help.
Do any of you moms or dads with special needs children work from home? i am looking for a remote job that i can do along with my daughter's busy therapy/school schedule. Finding something that is not 9-5 remote daily seems to be hard. i am able to work some hours just not straight through like being online from 9-5 with no interruptions. This is because marleigh has therapy sessions every day throughout the day so i am trying to find something i can kind of set my own schedule for. I live in NC… read more

Has anyone ever heard of or used FMA fundamental music therapy for autism? I watched a video where they claim it stimulates a child's brain to help to communicate? Hope you all have a blessed day. https://autisminfocus.com/fma/

As parents or caregivers to a child or children with autism, there are challenges that come with social situations due to behavioral matters, ect. & with the weekend the support that may come with school is not available unless you have respite. How does this affect your household? I’m self employed so I haven’t viewed my days as 9-5 or M-F for years but we look forward to the weekend, though we have challenges & anxiety at times as well.

Does anyone know what level of service Kaiser California considers ABA? Would it be a standard copay or a specialist copay.
Your ABA provider is supposed to collect your standard co-pay if they are contracted with Kaiser
I am looking to find jobs for my son where employers understand and do not judge people on the spectrum. I am very frustrated with job hunting for my son

When he was a younger adult, he volunteered at a personal care home stocking shelves and setting tables, at 2 convenience stores making popcorn for sale and stocking the cooler and taking out the trash, at a grocery store stocking shelves and at the high school lunch room. He also walked the neighbor's dog for free. But he said he didn't want to work another day for nothing. We moved so now he is delivering newspapers-4 routes in one day. I would like to know what jobs a 39 year old non-speaking… read more

My grandson is getting in trouble at school because he’s pushing or biting other kids. We’ve had many conversations, but he always gets easily frustrated and reacts this way. How do we help him?
Im so sorry to hear this. You must feel stressed about it. I agree with what’s been said. The behaviours are showing overwhelm or distress. This means staff need to be proactive. Sometimes those… read more
