So someone asked about getting unwanted advice and i was telling my autistic son about what i said after that....
Someone was giving me advice in the store and i said "Oh your child is autistic too?" and when she said no, i responded "Well, then i know where to stick your advice."
Yeah, he remembered that.
Just last weekend while at an indoor craft fair my autistic 6yr was crying loudly about wanting to "pet" the blankets( he loves textures).I had moved him to a quiet corner and was calming him down when a man in his 50's walked over to us and starts fake crying really loudly and flapping his hands mocking my son.I couldn't believe it when he than proceeded to tell me how to get my kid to behave in public!!!
Very difficult when I get unsolicited advice from people that have no clue what the hell they're talking about makes me really angry cuz my mother and my sister give me it all the time they seem to think that if they give me advice and I don't do it as soon as it comes out of their mouth then that means that I'm ignoring them when in fact 99% of the time I've already tried it. Because honestly most of the typical things I have tried I'm a childcare provider I've tried most of it I'm now off of the norm I'm off to doing what I think I have no other choices but to try. The stuff that she or they are suggesting or things that would work on a typical child and I'm not against trying them but in most cases the things that they're suggesting or things I've already done.
love it, you did well.
