Social Security Disability Award Letter

My daughter is 13 years old. With our situation, I am looking to see if a cobra plan extention will be beneficial for my daughter's therapy coverage.
I was told that we could extend it if we get an award letter from Social Security.
Does anyone know if it means that i have to apply for SSI in order to get the letter?

Welcome to hell , I have signed my son up 2 different times in 2 different states , it is hell no way around it
