Evaluations
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all! Hope everyone is surviving summer vacation. School starts Aug. 28th here, going to be bitter sweet.
My son was origially evaluted when he was 2-1/2. He is now 8-1/2. Is it necessary to get a reevaluation? If so when?

Once you have a diagnosis you have one, but the school district may request one every once in a while. If they think that they want to change something they will do this and it most of the time involves them trying to remove services. We have only had this happen a few times but when it does we have our own outside evaluation done as well to counter theirs.

Last time they did this we had an evaluation done at Children's Hospital by the chief of neurology and when we went to the IEP meeting we basically said who do you have on staff better qualified to contradict him. They clearly had no answer and things stayed as they were.
