My 17 month old daughter Norah Jane is currently under Peachcare here in the state of Georgia. The details of her diagnosis state that an ABA specialist is crucial to her future progress and overall care. However, this is not a service that Peachcare covers.
As of right now, she is working with a program called Babies Can't Wait and has begun working with a sensory integration therapist who is visiting our home. Soon, she will be gaining access to speech, occupational, and physical therapy… read more
In my opinion (and eexperience), ABA is a crucial part of the child's success. My son, who was 2yo at the time, started out with speech and OT for the first two months (of intervention) and we saw a teeny tiny glimpse of improvement. Once ABA therapy started, the changes/improvement in his behavior were night and day. We kept speech and OT going since it was included, but ABA included pretty much the same therapies. He is 5 now and has done very well. I don't understand how some insurance companies can NOT cover ABA, it makes no sense. I HIGHLY recommend looking into an insurance company that provides this service.
good ABA therapy was the most effective treatment for my son.
OT and speech address only the impairment in motor development and language delay respecetively, but they don't target the behavior issues with autism , and that behavior hinders function for self care and language/ speech dev.
ABA is what is needed to address behavior barriers to learning. I hope you can get coverage.
@A MyAutismTeam Member thank you. And I know aba is not right for maybe every child but recently we have really intensified my daughters sessions and people have reacted oddly when I tell them about aba. It's been difficult even though she has loved it. She talks about the kids there all the time and generally likes going.
Thank you thank you so much❤️
