Pursue the outside testing. For too long did I "trust" the testing of the local school district and just "go along" with what they said. Recently went to see the pedi neurologist who "felt more than comfortable making the diagnosis". Well what do you know, school district always said "right below cutoff" but neurologist says "meets the criteria". Don't let them box you into a corner.

The neurologist can also be the beginning to some other great resources- we received referrals to ABA, child psych (for aggression issues)

@A MyAutismTeam Member we live in the UK and a group of professions saw our child in stages, he went from a special needs dentist to a speech therapist to an eye doctor to an OT to a physiotherapist and a developmental paediatrician (who recommended a blood test to screen for genetic abnormalities) this body of professional unanimously diagnosed our son as ASD. We dont get it broken down over here, to me my son wd have everythibg your daughter has yet our system would put it under the umbrella heading of ASD. He has worldwide development delay, SPD, maybe apraxia and dispraxia, possible ODD...many other I cannot name as we don't have these sub categories.
I believe you know your child best and you know!
Good luck with the Neurologist. X

Even though there is far more awareness for autism, there are still doctors unwilling to make the call. I would definitely go to a specialist. I know you have to wait a long time for appointments but it is the best thing to do. Fortunately for me I don't need the PCP for referrals but even if I did he is great and does what we need to. We have an entire team where they all work together which is great.

My son was diagnosed through a neurologist. What does her OT say? I have found that therapist often can be helpful in referring me to a right direction or even a doctor.
