Please Help With Steps To Take To Get Help With Dianosis And Support For Son In Broomfield, Co!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My sister has a son that is 11 years old in Broomfield, CO. He is undiagnosed but clearly has Aspergers. He is getting suspended from school for doing inappropriate things and desperately needs services! I feel so strongly that ABA would help him tremendously. She also does not have insurance : ( . Where does she even begin? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!!

I got a recommendation from my sons daughter to go to Texas children’s and I saw a pediatric neurologist who evaluated and diagnosed my son with autism. After I had the diagnosis on paper I was able to take him anywhere (almost) but I must warn you... the wait list was 6 months and during that stretch of time we were in your position except thankfully mine wasn’t school aged at the time! Mention the wait list in the mean time to any doctor or therapist and they may go on and get you started up! I used my pediatrician and paid therapy while waiting but gets costly. Good luck with this and keep your head high for this too will pass!

Is there no state insurance he can get? Have you applied for social Security Benefits for him? He may be eligible for Medicaid maybe? I'm not sure but no harm asking. There are ABA therapist that may come to your home for an hour or so a day. You should check it out. Good Luck.
