Denied For SSI
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question πŸ’­

I am a grandmother with custody of my two grandsons. The older one, 7 years is diagnosed with Autism stage 1, ADHD, combined type. I am so upset. He is high functioning and is a special ed class in school. Does anyone have any advice.? I’m thinking about appeal and getting a lawyer.

Since I am their grandmother and have custody my income does not count.

my son didn't get ssi and he's very low functioning because my income was too high. it wasn't until he became an adult that he got it.

I never heard of biomedical. Thank you. Yes actually when I got custody the state told me to apply. Even the intake and doctor for SSI said he should be approved. He only has Medicaid and a lot of specialized therapy isn’t covered. I just want to know I am doing my best for him. I now have a lawyer. Thanks!
