Keep in mind, when those older doctors got their degrees, autism wasn't as prevalent and was frequently misdiagnosed. They didn't know what it was.(look up idiot-savants, for example) I myself fit the bill for Aspbergers but was only diagnosed as adhd, schizophrenic, and bipolar. I commend your daughter for taking the step to get diagnosed though. I've been too worried about the reaction to ask about it. I'm hyperintelligent but I worked HARD growing up to adjust to life and in MANY ways it still gets gets in the way of everyday life.
