So recently I watched a great docomentry on Netflix called "The Magic Pill" it basically describes how many people are on heavy medication and what if they cut out all carbs from their diet and ate like "cave men" their health would improve. They introduce us to Abigail a beautiful 6 year old whom had Asd,epilepsy, sleep apnea and very bad constipation her parents took on the tough task of changing her diet Long story short a few weeks later she was speaking, eating independently, wasn't having as… read more

I get mine on Amazon - Evolution Advance Nutrition FIT & SLIM PROTEIN.
I make it with Chocolate Almond milk. (On my tough days, I add in espresso powder and cocoa nibs - just for me!)

We have our daughter on a high protein low carb diet. Crunchy stuff can be a challenge but overcooking anything can make it crunchy. One of the best tricks we did was to provide a protein shake (there's an excellent one I use) and flavor it to death. However, the kicker is our daughter would ONLY drink it if she thought it was from Starbucks (she had a mermaid fascination). I have even flavored it with peanut butter and jelly. If you want more infro - just send me a message. I don't want to post anything that looks like a commercial and I don't make any money or sell anything from my ideas.

I will definitely check that documentary out! I read a lot about children being in on no dairy or gluten diets. I read all the pros and the testimonies of all the parents saying this improved their child with ASD. I have no doubt that it prob did improve behavior. Also read about parents that give their children supplements as well.

I tried it very early in our autism journey with my daughter. When I talked to a pediatrician and asked what she thought she gave me some very good advice. My daughter was extremely restricted in her diet and was not getting proper nutrition with no dairy/ no gluten. The pediatrician said I would not restrict a child that is already restricting themselves.

I wish my daughter ate more of a variety so we could have stayed on the no dairy/ no gluten to see if it worked for her or not. I worried more about her getting proper nutrition I couldn’t juggle both.

Whatever you choose to do I hope it works and you and you see improvement. Don’t know if that answered anything for you...

The same happened with us a few years ago we tried but our pediatrician didn't recommend it since they have always been so picky she worried about their overall nutrition. I will keep you posted. I haven't tried supplements yet but love using Lavender oil for a sleeping routine it works wonders!
