My son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS before 2 months and he is 5 year 3 months old. He completed his pre-k this year in a SNP classroom. For his kindergarten placement they gave us options for inclusive classroom, AU classroom and retaining in the same pre-K. He is verbal, he speaks in sentences but not for his age group. Definitely inclusive
@A MyAutismTeam Member Hi and welcome to the site. I would recommend continuing the public school inclusive classroom in the Kindergarten. If you feel like he has mastered all of the PreK curriculum, and does it at home, then go for Kindergarten, not retaining him in PreK. He will get all of his school interventions in the classroom, hopefully OT, PT, speech, adaptive PE? Then he can move ahead with new curriculum, and he will feel challenged. good luck, I know it is a hard decision.
