Looking for public schools districts in SE Michigan that have a good reputation for working with children on the Autism Spectrum. Any advice on where to turn?

we just moved back from a long stay in the middle east and our son is autistic with ID and he is now 25 years old. we live in virginia now and looking for any program that can help us place him even if it is a private as all the state funded has a long waiting list. so we can pay for his placement until such time we get the waiver approval. please help us if you you have a name or a resource of a consultant to guide us through

I currently live in California and I'm looking to relocate to a state that is a lot better at accommodating kids with disabilities. I've done my own research but I would like to see if I can get some opinions, or info from some moms and dads here. Thank you.

We have been going back and forth. With our 25 year old son who is autistic, with aggressive behaviors. He was on respiradone and the doctor changed it to invega which worked for the first 7 days and then all hell broke loose whe. He started to become so hyperactive and was eating until he vomits. My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. There are also no affordable facilities or programs for young adults in our area. As a group we would like to develop a program similar to the one they have at school but lack the funds. What do you encourage for independent play. Be have drawing and puzzles down but can't seem to find anything else she'll take interest in. She's almost 3 and electronics are not an option at this time.
