Considering Moving From Illinois To South Carolina
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I currently live in Illinois where getting services for my son is next to impossible. I'm considering moving to either South Carolina or North Carolina. Will the move be worth it? My son can't be in a mainstream special needs classroom setting due to his behavioral issues so he HAS to be in a therapeutic day school or something equivalent. I just want to get my son the help he needs and if it means moving to another state I will.

Sending hugs to you. There are many parents that I have seen come to this decision at some point. Us autism parents will do whatever it takes to see our children thrive. Just do a little research so you can have a good picture of what you are getting into. I'm sure everything will work out.

I feel you. I often toss and turn about moving to be close to extended family. But also get really anxious about what that change and uprooting would look like—fear of the unknown is so hard!

The best pieces of wisdom I hear is to trust your gut, your intuition. Do the research to help make an informed decision, and give it all to God to help direct your steps.

We are here for you!
