Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). Help my ex wont give my son his meds on the weekends or vacation time he has him. so my son goes days without it and comes home more upset and violent with his sisters and me. I have try to talk to his father about making sure that he gets it but got told that he can give it to himself which the doctor says no because of where he is on the spectrum. My son started kindergarten last week and he has a paraprofessional. It's been a rough start, my son is pulling things of shelves, makes noises and even kicked some people in the classroom. He's not violent with us, so this has to be related to being overwhelmed

I’ve been going over school work with Vanessa. She’s been watching educational videos. We play. We went to the pool. We’re working on cleaning her room. Right now we’re focusing on her morning routine to get ready for school.
How do you balance the day? How do you know what to do and what to teach and how to teach it? Do you keep your child busy most of the day?

My 7 year old son recently began ABA therapy for a minimum of 10 hours a week (crazy its minimum!!?) and so far he's doing okay but I worry it's going to be too much for him physically and mentally. That's a LONG day for a child with special needs. Does anyone else have experience with this and how did your child do? I would like to know what therapys your children have been offered to help them cope, I raised concerns about my son at 22 months he is now 3 and apart from 4 speech lessons has had no other help. thank you
