College Grievance Process
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My high functioning Aspergers son is 24 years old and a senior at a 4 year college, majoring in Communications. He aspires to work with Transmedia. Other than schedule reminders and dealing with over stimulation during discussions of controversial topics, his biggest problem in college is other people "trolling" him. During the first day of class on 8/26/13, a student stepped out of class and called the police claiming that my son's hand flapping resembled a gun holding gesture and that he… read more

If you didn't speak with the director of the equity office, do that. If you did, I'd take it to the dean responsible for equity.

4 Years Old Boy Humping Pillows And Gets Erection. Is This Normal?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have 4 years old under the spectrum. Since he was two years old he is humping pillows whenever the opportunity comes a home. He does not do such thing at daycare, but whenever he comes home from daycare, he eats and then start humping pillow on the bed. I saw he has erection. Is this normal?. Usually he does that for over 30 minutes. I do really need to know if anybody saw something like this in the past.

Has Anyone Deal With ABA And School At The Same Time?? My Daughter Dx W Severe Autism
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

she gets OT/speech/PT at school once a week for 20 mins goes to school for 4 hours and ABA in the afternoon. I’ve moved around therapies so my daughter wont feel overwhelmed bc she stimulates a lot. I see progress at school but not with ABA we change it to the afternoon a lot more tantrums and meltdowns. I know all therapies are important how can we implement them w out having to miss all therapies. Brings my anxiety level to 10000% . Although I’m splitting her schedule so she can get both then… read more

When my son was in the pre-k program in Tennessee, his school agreed that he could go 3 days a week instead of 5 so he could participate in ABA.

Our Children As Adults.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I playfully hope there are programs that will support our children with autism as adults? With autism on the rise so much this should be a top priority. Will there ever be a cure for autism? Like me all of you want your children to adapt to life as much as possible when they are older. Especially for people who have a only child like we do. Thanks all in advance for reading my comment.

Natural Supplements To Deal With Uncontrollable Laughter
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone

This is is my first time posting.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Has anyone ever dealt with uncontrollable laughter.

I have recently been struggling to get my son to stop this behavior.
He Only calms down when is on clonidine. When the medication wears off he can go on and on.

Does anyone know of any natural medication, or supplements that can help keep him calm when is not on clonidine.?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
