My son just turned 15. For the past couple of years he has had this obsession of throwing technology.
He use to love to pay with his tablet, computer, Wii, DS, etc. Now he won't even touch a TV remote.
He gets irritated at the smallest glitch, such as slow speed, hitting a wrong button, etc. He feels like if this happens he has no choice but to throw the item.
He's been through therapy and tried hypnosis, but nothing has helped. I want him to be able to use technology for fun and work. Any… read more
Throw something else. Punch a punching bag?
Look up on amazon.com bobjcase. It was made for kids with Autism who are very hard on their computers. They are around 15$. Trust me ---my daughter was going thru tablet after tablet till I found out about those. Now, it does not matter how many times she drops it or throws it. It does not break.!!! Hope this helps ya
Throwing Technology , Teenage Son... would suggest to Forget the Technology at least for Now and go back to doing things another way, preferrably the way the he handles best and gets most results and satisafaction ftom .Even if that means just using a Dry Erase Board,or an Etch a Sketch .He may be getting a Sensory OverLoad, and is needing something that will help Calm and Soothe him, like Classical Music and a Soak in the Tub might Calm and Soothe You.
Thank you so much. I'm not exactly sure if this will go to everyone or just to WildFlower3, but can you tell me what you mean by "gut issues?" Meaning what type of condition or testing should I ask about? Thank you!
My son throws and hits the tablet and switch when something he doesn’t like happens. He will also hit people when he’s upset or overly excited. I just get his attention and ask him to stop, at that point he usually tells me what’s bothering him if it’s something I can help with I do, but if it’s out of our control I ask if he needs to take a break or if he doesn’t want the item I’ll put it away. Most times that stops the behavior for a short while anyway. Hugs. I’ve mentioned this before in another post, But I did see some improvement in my son’s attitude & behavior and even conversationally when he was attending BA therapy.
