I'm trying to get more information on a neurodegenerative disease called Mitochondrial Dysfunction. What I've learned so far is that many cases of "mito" are initially diagnosed as ASD because the condition is associated with many of the same symptoms of ASD. In my case specifically, I have an 8-year old girl diagnosed with ASD in 2012 (she was initially diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome) and she has ADHD. Lately, she has been really sleepy. It's not constant though. It comes and goes… read more

I just found out a week ago that our family is moving to Charlotte, NC in June. My husband's job will be in Pineville. Any recommendations for good public schools for a 4th grader with PDD-NOS? From scanning message boards, Union County and Cabarrus County seem to be the best options. Anyone love a particular elementary school? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone ever heard of Angel Sense? If u have have u tried it? My son will be starting classes in September with BCIU/early intervention and im worried how he will do and how teachers will treat him. It has a tracker if ur kid goes missing and u can even listen in on conversation wherever they are. It snaps to clothing or backpack. Wanted to know if its worth getting for the price and is it really reliable. Its rated 5 star's. Let me know what u guys think.
You could look into Apples Air Tags. They are really just for gps, and don’t have video or audio capabilities, but you can hang or place them almost anywhere. If your child has a tendency to take off… read more

My son loves to eat and eats quite a few things, but he will regurgitate his food and seems to be eating it a second time ( so gross I know). I don't know why he does this or even how to stop it, any ideas would be great.

How did you get him/her into school, private or public, and how is it going? I understand that there are no actual autism schools as there are in Florida, but I am trying to figure out how public school is system works in North Carolina. Separate classes, different teachers, etc.
Can anyone recommend a high school program in Orange County NY for a child who is high function austism. We are struggling terribly through the material for earth science and algebra. These courses and regents are required for a diploma. My son needs a unique way to learn this material.
Thank you!
