Hello!

Our 3 yr old son was biting his classmates at daycare and we have received 6 incident reports because of this. We had spoken to his developmental pediatrician and she had referred us to ABC therapy (Autistic Behavioral Center). We just started going there and so far it has helped a lot. If you can, reach out to your Dr and ask about this type of therapy for your son. They can guide you to what the real underlying cause is.

Hoping your son gets the help he needs!

Is your son able to verbalize his feelings and thoughts? If he doesn’t has a history of aggression in the past then I would get him into his doctor and dentist for a check up to make sure there isn’t an underlying medical issue that is causing him pain or discomfort. If there are no medical issues then I would go to his school and complete several observations to look for clues as to why the new behavior. Hope this helps.

My son is two and a half and can be aggressive towards others and self harm is probably one of our biggest struggles (hitting himself in the face, slamming his head into walls or the floor, pinching himself) and I also hug him tight and about 6 months ago I started putting my hands over his ears and 9 times out of 10 it instantly calms him down.
