How many hours of therapy a week would be appropriate for a non-verbal autistic 4 year old
25 hours of ABA a week during summer when there’s no school and 15 hours a week during school season. Also, 2 speech therapy sessions of 45 minutes weekly and 2 OT sessions of 45 minutes each. On and off 45 minutes a week of PT. She graduated ABA a week ago, we did it for 2 years. From what I was told, she may or may not require focused ABA sessions of a few hours a week in the future.
Depends on the kid. Some when overwhelmed will shut down and and or get aggressive.
I think 'they' say it is 30 hours now.
How often will my child need ABA Therapy?
"In 2001, the National Research Council Report recommended a minimum of 25 hours per week. In 2007, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended 20 hours or more of active engagement in evidence-based interventions. These are the minimum number of advised hours based on research for young children."
"But each child and family is unique. Your child’s ABA Therapy team will work with you to determine the amount of therapy needed and recommend a schedule of care based on an evaluation of your child’s individual needs."

My daughter get 10 hours a week of ABA therapy. Then there's 6 hours of social interaction type therapy.
Hours recommended usally is suggested according to the child need . Example a kid with a severe speech delay would have 2 days a week of therapy verses 1 day.
