Last night, my son while we were driving - wanted to first count by ones to 100, then 2's, then 10's, then by 100's to 1000, then by 1000's to about 45,000. What really struck me is he wanted to count by square numbers, up to 100. It took me a minute to realize what he was doing when he started with 1, 3, 9, 16, 25, 36...

I wish I had had something like that to encourage J at that age. He was obsessed with Pi. He would amaze people with his ability to recite hundreds of digits of pi. Then, he just lost interest in it at some point.
