I was told my 8yr.old autistic child doesnt qualify for end of the year (ESY) because thats only for children with behaviorial problems and severe disabilities. My little.guy is in 2nd can barely retain school work. He needs reinenforcement constantly. The tutor i hired is foing way back to first grade lessons to re-teach him the basics of math
I live in Orlando, Fl . I asked for these services last year so it would help. him try and retain what he learned. Doesnt he qualify? I dont know… read more

That is no reason to deny him ESY, the problem is they put cost above what will benefit our children.

I would recommend ESY only for one reason...routine. Getting neurotypical kids back in gear for school is tough, ASD kids is like learning to ride a bike all over from start!!
I dreaded anytime more than a long weekend off because it’s all about repetition with my kids.
