Vision Therapy
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi there-
My son 9 years old was seen by an Optometrist. They stated he needed vision therapy asap. Cost is 4k. Out of pocket. Insurance denied claim and many state vision therapy doesn't work. Any advice...Thanks

I suggest you see a pediatric ophthalmologist ( an actual md for this diagnosis). Should be a basic visit covered under insurance. They can check for weak muscles or crossed eyes ( strabismus). Which if is occurring is important to treat but should then be covered because then it is A medical diagnosis. Can ask your pediatrician for a referral

When our sons were in elementary schools, the Occupational Therapist usually evaluated and discussed plans, home activities, and provided information about community services that might be available.
