Most Effective Form Of Communication For Nonverbal
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter is 10 yrs old and is nonverbal. We are currently using an app call Pro Lo Quo. She knows how to use it for the most part, as far as selecting what she wants to eat/drink but we are having a hard time getting her to use it to express how she feels and to use it as a complete sentence. I wanted to know what forms of communications works for your non verbal child. Thanks in advance!

I have a daughter who is almost 20 and doing pretty well in her 2nd year in the engineering program in her community college. Still when I ask how she's feeling, most days she just freezes. I know as a neurotypical parent emotions are super important to you,but they are extremely difficult for about half of autistic to recognize-even in themselves.
Maybe concentrate next on an area of strength-something she loves. Build your vocabulary around that.
