Hello, we've heard great things about the school districts in Irvine. My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with moderate ASD. She's been in a special day class in San Leandro, CA and has been in every type of service since she was initially diagnosed (private OT, ABA, Speech and music therapy). The school has offered the basics, and not even OT! After sending letters she will finally have an assessment. She is transitioning to Kinder. At this point we are willing to move wherever services are… read more

The definition of homeschool here is a center setup with small number of students. (Homeschool here may have different definition to most other countries, where it means strictly doing studies in own home).

My grandson was not verbal. Just used single words. He said 5 word sentence yesterday. I know he can hear and understand but have to say smth 5-6 times to get his reaction. Does it mean he develops speech now?
Verbal is a word, but what you want is him to be conversational. Echolalia is verbal but not conversational. It isn’t functional. It’s a good start and use Verbal behavior to get him to stop being… read more

My son is 3 years old and is a few months away from his official diagnosis appointment with his developmental pediatrician but we've been told he is high functioning and is on the spectrum.
Last week he was using a "big boy" cup to drink and he'd take a sip and make a sound like a (that hits the spot) sound and then went into this "routine" of saying "So, let's go find my girl friend." or something similar and he would not stop.... every single time he drinks from a big boy cup now he… read more
