My daughter was recently diagnosed with dyslexia, I have been looking for an explanation why she can’t read when she is so smart now I know. Is a sweet and sour moment for me but now I wonder if Kaiser provides IM therapy because I know in my heart that will be of great help for her , does any one know?
Now that my son has started school. I see his trantrums got worse. He does things he didnt do before. He was talking a little now he doesnt even want to say anything. He just gives me a sign. I Think he regressed. Idk what to do..
Fyi all children make steps forward and then fall back. When something new is introduced to any child they tend to lose a little elsewhere for a while. This said it can be more prevalent with… read more

This is an interesting medical hypothesis supported by newer 2013 correlation risk factor study - use of acetaminophen (Tylenol) in very young children as potential cause of ASD.

Unfortunately we did use Tylenol in first three months of life (but also had 20 of the 25 other risk factors also correlated with ASD including mercury exposure). We switched to Advil instead more than a year and half ago.
What do you think? Do you use Tylenol… read more

Hi. Soon moving from South Africa to the States. My husband has a job transfer to NYC. I have a 12 year old son on the spectrum. I've been scouring the net for a place to put down roots and from what I see, I like the thought of staying in New Jersey. I see a lot of awareness, facilities and providers in this State. I don't know a soul in the States so its a scary transition for me. l'd love advice, you thoughts, info regarding school and also perhaps get to know a few friendly faces… read more

My son has been on a mood stabilizer and antidepressants for over a year. I cannot tell if they are effective any longer, having adjusted dosages several times. He has lots of anxiety and anger outbursts, but are these drugs really helping him? I want to do what is best for him and if the meds are it, that is great. I am just not sure how to determine if these drugs are helping him or just making him dependent on them just to feel good.
Our son was on an ssri he has adhd and was diagnosed in the last year with ASD Aspergers. His anxiety was so bad it was making him sick and getting him to school was a nightmare. The SSRis made him… read more

I have an appt for my 6 year old Thomas this week to get him tested for autism although I have self diagnosed him and his pediatrician and 2 psychiatrist thinks that he is Aspergers. It has taken a while to get here because he has also been diagnosed with ADHD and general anxiety and has responded well to Vyvance but we thought that was all it was.
Last week there was a teacher that quit in his summer school and he couldn't handle the change. Thomas gets violent and tunes out the world… read more

There is a great need for after school care for our autistics kids. Many of us struggle financially and have no choice but to work. I'm sick and tired of managing my schedule around my kids. I'd like to create a space in my home where I can provide after school hour care and day care during school closures. This would allow working parents to leave their child with someone who understands the needs of an autistic child and I could earn money, be there for my own kids and provide a much… read more
