Nonstop Challenging Behavior From 8 Yr Old, Non Verbal, Autistic, Adhd Child?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter visits every few years and I also fly to her so I am not around my grandson often. He constantly runs to and climb to top of couch, jump, run up 6 stairs and jump to hardwood floor, then up to dresser climb up and jump then run over and grab his brothers soda and dump it. My daughter keeps usual routines, takes him swimming for a few hours but never slows down at all. She tells him to stop but he just continues on and on. What Have YOU Been Diagnosed With? How Does This Affect The Care You Give Your Child(ren)?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am bi-polar. I went to get tested for ADHD when my son finished breastfeeding. I expected my son to be hyper and difficult because every boy in my family always has been. It didn't occur to me that he was anything different then probably ADHD until he went for a year refusing to hug and/or kiss or receive affection from 30 months - 3.5 years. So, I was diagnosed bi-polar when the medication the doctor gave me (adderol) for ADHD stopped working. I am so happy that I went, because I would… read more

South Bay, California Move
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Moving to South Bay (California). Does anyone know which school districts are most receptive to high functioning kids on the spectrum. Moved from Maryland, which was a battle to Kansas, whose school district was awesome. Thanks.

Regular Or Specialized School
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 7-year-old autistic son is high-functioning and goes to grade 1 in a regular school and regular class. He has some challenges with paying attention, sitting, and following some rules but he is doing well academically. His teacher has told us we should consider sending him to special classes in other schools. We feel that the teacher's advice is mostly for her comfort rather than the benefit of our child. Any advice on what should be our strategy toward this problem?

Boredom
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I may have asked this before but I’m asking again because I’m desperate for answers. I’ve searched online and haven’t found any information on what I’m looking for.

What does boredom look like in your ASD kid? What actions do they do when they are bored? How can you tell? If they are not bored just under-stimulated, how do you explain to others the difference??
