How To Stop Biting
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello. I have a 3 year old who tends to bite when she gets upset. She is nonverbal. She was attending ABA therapy until the current pandemic and it seemed to be helping out. But she has since been out of therapy she is biting several times a day. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? My husband and I are taking a beating so to speak. Thank you!!

Have you tried to use something else for her to bite like a chewy necklace or chewy tubes? They have helped a lot with my 2.5 year old who would bite herself when angry or frustrated.

I have bought the bite necklace and she has zero interest in them. We sent them to daycare and if I’m not mistaken I believe she almost choked on it. So we don’t use it. She’s not biting herself she’s biting us because we are saying no to things. Thank you for the advice.
