any suggestion on helping autistic kids sleep. Currently on melatonin as well as seroquel. However it doesn't seem to be working. My daughter has been on this @2months as well as depakote twice a day; seems like the moodswings are still there Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I would be very cautious with melatonin, especially if there is any family history of seizures, disorder or not. Melatonin has been proven to cause seizures, even in those who don't have a personal history. I recommend hot chocolate or warm milk, but ice cream helps my kids sleep. If they aren't an option, hot tea, especially peppermint or chamomile, or a warm bath. There are lotions, bath gels, & soaps made specifically for that purpose. Also, a humidifier with essential oils may help.

I've given my sibling one Zzz quill gummy and within 40 minutes he'll be getting sleepy.

Nothing helped our son to sleep until we tried Clonidine. It’s a blood pressure medication. He still has some rougher nights now and again, but he’s been using it over a year now and it’s been I’d say a 90% improvement over the previous year of sleep issues. His dr at Children’s Hospital in Boston prescribes it. He also takes Ritalin in the morning due to ADD, since he was previously unable to focus at school. The Ritalin has madevthe Clonidine a little less effective because they’re fighting against each other.

Melatonin didn’t work out for us either. Our daughter would have nightmares and or very vivid dreams and roll around like crazy in her sleep. What really helps her is when she gets slot of physical activity during the day and a nice snack before bed 🙂
