Has Anyone Had Their Child Regress On Sensitivity?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter had learned to acclimate to everyday sounds. Vacuums, dishwasher, car alarms, sirens, etc. But within the last week, she covers her ears and wants the dishwasher or tge dryer turned off. She also covers her ears at school when the air conditioner comes on in class. Has anyone else had this happen? Could there be a medical issue?

I did make an appointment with her pediatrician to check her ears for infection to be on the safe side. She has been doing alot better since the construction has stopped at her school too. I haven't… read more

What Multivitamin Do You Give Your Child With Autism
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone recommend a certain multivitamin? I see a bunch of different vitamins that contains extra omega 3's, iron, etc. My daughter is a picky eater so i know she doesn't get all the nutrients she needs. She will only eat gummy vitamins. We have tried the flinstones kind but they seem a little bit too hard to chew. I will talk with her MD and see what he thinks but i thought i'd try here as well...thanks!

How Do We Tell My Sons Girlfriend He Has Aspergers
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is 16 and was just diagnosed with Aspergers. He has been dating a girl for 2 years, but she lives over a hour away. Since they hardly see each other she doesn't realize the extent of his symptoms. My husband and I are extremely nervous on how to tell her and her parents the news. As anyone had experience in this? It will crush him if she breaks up with him because of this.

I would leave that decision to your son. 16 is a little too old for mom to disclose information like that without his consent, from a 16 year old's point of view anyway. I would be afraid you might… read more

Reverted Toileting
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 7 year old (moderate to severe ASD) was completely toilet trained until about 6 months ago when he reverted back to 'pooping' in his underwear. He will not go in public but only at home (thank goodness). We are finding ourselves cleaning /showering him numerous times each day and are beginning to get frustrated with this ongoing issue. He will sometimes go on demand (we know he has to go as soon as he gets home from school), but he normally fights this by yelling or jumping up and down on the… read more

Had that issue too, except no pullups, cause he was too old for pull ups. We had to work with him on certain underwear he liked by letting him pick them out, ensuring he wasn't constipated after the… read more

Help Ex Wont Give My Son His Meds.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Help my ex wont give my son his meds on the weekends or vacation time he has him. so my son goes days without it and comes home more upset and violent with his sisters and me. I have try to talk to his father about making sure that he gets it but got told that he can give it to himself which the doctor says no because of where he is on the spectrum. I have tired talking to DFCS where I live and got told they cant do anything because I have the child most of the time. What else can I do because… read more

It is a form of negligence called medical negligence, I believe, for a parent to not give meds. I’m shocked that DCFS won’t do anything! CPS? My ex is the same but my child is only on meds when she is… read more

I'm Looking For The Right School For My Daughter (kindergartner With An ASD) In The West Jordan, UT, Area.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My daughter is in a diagnostic Kindergarten through the school district, but I think she'll be ready to be mainstreamed (with resource) in the next year or two. But I'm not sure the public school system is right for her. Are there any Charter schools or others (that are FREE) that you would recommend?

A MyAutismTeam Member

Have you talked to the school district to see if they offer ST, OT and PT during the school day?

Lindamood Bell
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Have you guys ever used Lindamood-Bell to help boosting reading comprehension? My little one is going to 4th grade, but her reading level is the equivalent of a 1st grader, despite the fact she's being getting help from school and tutors. The price is ridiculously outrageous, but if anyone could tell me they are able to really help in a very sigficant way, I'm willing to try.

Has Anyone Participated In Genetic Counseling? How Has It Benefited You?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son is four and a half years old. He was in early intervention from 2y-3y. Now he is in a headstart program with a speech, occupational and physical therapist in a class of only 8 children including himself. Recently thought about genetic counseling but wanted opinions on the benefits or if its worth looking into.

A MyAutismTeam Member

1)what’s the $ cost
2) genetic tests are done in succession. Test 1 inconclusive then test 2 etc etc
3) if something does show up in the test, medication helps in about 10-20% (could be wrong about… read more
