My son is a 4 years old autistc child, for the past two years he has been experiencing this requent diarrhea, its on and off during the morning there are days that he can have 4 to 5 episodes, ans then in the afternoon of that same day his poop will be hard (normal). I took him to his pediatrician and he told me that this is normal in kids with autism. Im not happy with this answer. Can someone please tell me if you can relate with this and what do you suggest to help. Thank you
Austin is doing well on the acdemic aspect but He is having episodes when He is being agressive with classmates. The school is working on a behavior assesment with him but I would like to explore other non-traditional options available out there
cmmbytheriver, I would love to give chiropractors a try but our insurance does not cover it :(. And that is why I am considering pediatric integrative medicine due is fully covered and I like the… read more
Austin is 6 years old and is mainstream in kindergarten. His IEP was already set up but there are new behaviors that are being targeted by it. We are at the point where we will new to have a new meeting and readjust his goals. In the meantime, the school has invited an autism specialist from the district to come to the classroom and observe him and we will go from there. I don't know what to expect. I have been in his classroom and I am 100% sure Austin needs and aide. He is not able to… read more
I agree you have to be a pain and keep on them, make sure they know you are not going away. They try the cheap way out and pArents let them get away with it. Push and threaten advocates and lawyers
I am looking for advice regarding service and companion dogs. If anyone has experience in this area I would be very gratefu to hear from you.
What is the difference between service dogs and companion dogs?
Where are their places to get a dog who are reliable, have well trained dogs etc?
I have heard there are very long waiting list. Does anyone have experience in getting a dog from overseas?
Does anyone have a dog that would be for sale?
Hi! I had the same question this time last year. Service dogs are trained to perform tasks (IE: get your medicine, assist blind people with navigation, etc). Companion animals are primarily for… read more
Have spent every waking hour trying to figure out how to deal with my little guys behavior. It has spiked since around the time change and not gettng any better. In the last 6wks at school he has been sent to the principals office 3 times. :( He has 2 other boys in his class who are usually up to no good and he copies them and constantly gets in trouble. He is overly hyper in class and is not listening. At home it's been a constant struggle to get him to behave. I hate spending the day… read more
The time change is always rough for a lot of ASD children, it throws them off. If you think about it a lot of the children live on routine so if they are off routine it becomes an issue. Now if you… read more
Does anyone else have a problem with their kids putting too much food in their mouth at once? Little Man will literally put almost an entire half sandwich in his mouth at once and then try to chew it up. Is this an autism/sensory thing? That possibility just occured to me today but I don't know if there's actually a connection there. Anyone else have experience with this?
@vwmommy-Unfortunately, one of the twin autistic females in our family who is 23yrs old has been doing this for 10 years. We constantly have to watch her because there have been a few times that all… read more
My 4yr old son internalized his feelings. He stops talking, making eye contact, and loses control. It builds up in him for weeks until he explodes on little requests like brushing his teeth or eating dinner. He'll go to his room rip apart his bed, throw his books and toys everywhere, turn off his light and sit in a corner breathing fast. If we try to stop him or talk to him, he squeals and thrashes. I have talked to his therapist and doctors. I don't know what to do. How do you get a 4 yr old to… read more
Thank you so much for all your help. God bless you too. I have seen a face chart. That sounds like a good idea to try. I will observe him more closely and figure out what's going on. Thank you again.
Has she had a swallow study?
My son has reflux pretty frequently. I am not sure if he has pain or any other discomfort because he is a little over two years old and doesn't speak much. He doesn't have any other stomach issues (diarrea, constipation, vomiting, etc.). He also has ezcema. He has a pretty limited diet and I would like to make sure he is gluten sensitive before I put him on a gluten free diet. He is already in a casein free diet. I found out about Cyrex Labs while doing some research online. I would appreciate… read more
