Risperdal Medication

My daughter that is now 11 yrs old has recently been prescribed Risperdal due to her OCD/repetitive/aggressive behavior. She's been on it for almost 2 weeks now. It seems to slightly help with OCD but still showing repetitive/aggressive behavior. Along with those behaviors, she seems more hyperactive at night, causing her to fall asleep at 3 or 4 in the morning. My son as an adult is back on strattera and doing OK. As a child it was tried but he was severely nauseous and could not tolerate it.

Risperdal did not work for my son. It had many bad side effects, the worst of which was excessive and rapid weight gain. I have been on the medication merry go round with my son for years. It's so tough. I'm sorry you are going through this.

@A MyAutismTeam Member I will have to look in to that medication. My daughter has OCD, repetitive behaviors, aggression, and hyperactive at night so I'm hoping I find the right medication for all or most of these symptoms. She just started behavioral therapy as well so hopefully that will benefit as well.

I am in the same predicament I have a 7 year old boy we are now taking strettera so far I see different issues I to heard about Clonidine. If anyone is using strettera please reach out to me and let me know you experience with this medication. Thank you

@A MyAutismTeam Member same here! Well so far we've tried this and clonodine but both medications caused her to b more hyper at night. Hopefully we will find the right medication for her. Thank you!
