Has Anyone Tried Valerian For Sleep Problems?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 13 year old son is having trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I have been giving him Zzzquil, but it makes him groggy the next day. I heard that Valerian Root was a good herb for sleep problems. Has anyone tried using it before? Thanks:-)

My son takes Atarax. I wasn’t aware there were two types, I am now👍.

Thanks! In fact, Hydroxyzine was on the top of my list to ask my son's psychiatrist about in our upcoming meeting next week;-) I understand there are 2 types, Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride(Atarax) and Hydroxyzine Pamoate(Vistaril) which is better for insomnia. Which one does your son take?

I haven’t tried Valerian root. My son takes 20mg. of Hydroxyzine & he has been sleeping through the night (8 hours) with no side effects. Ask your Dr. about Hydroxyzine. Best of luck.
