Behavioral interventions for young people with autism by Catherine Maurice and Gina Green.
My son is six and has been off and on bed wetting since he was potty trained at 3.5 yrs old. We have tried everything from cutting off drinks two hrs before bed and adding a water proof cover to putting him in big kid pull ups. He was just diagnosed with ASD. Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to handle this so that we don’t have to replace his bed every few months?

Hi Everyone, My son is turning 3, and is diagnosed mild autism, high functioning. His testing at the public school he will be attending in September said he is overall on the average range. However, they are suggesting only 60 mins inclusion time a day, with the other 5 hours being in self contained. I was surprised by this, and want to ask for more...but I am not sure if I am right in doing so. Any feelings on self contained vs inclusion? What worked for your kids? Thanks!!!
Usually inclusion programs are shorter days and self contained are longer. You sound like you are getting the best of both worlds with 60 minutes of typical peer time and then the rest of the time to… read more
I'm trying to incorporate the early start denver model into our therapy plan. My 2.5 year old daughter is currently getting traditional ABA. I want to incorporate a greeting routine that I read about, but don't know the specifics. She is just learning to imitate words and inconsistently will imitate a wave. Any ideas from parents that implement a greeting routine. The therapist usually comes every morning for 2 hours.

At this point, we really don't have a very supportive family and I could not care less about living in Cleveland, Oh. Does anyone know what the school systems are like in Columbus, Detroit, N. Havelock, NC, or Dfw Tx areas. If you live in any of these areas, please add me to your team I am curious about these cities. Thanks.
DFW really depends on where live in the metroplex. Collin County has the most resources. I just moved from Collin County to Grayson County though and am extremely happy with the ECI services I am… read more
My 4 year old son was diagnosed with moderate to severe autism a few months ago. He is non verbal, and has many fine motor skill delays. He is in the special education preschool in the public school system. My worry is this: I am afraid that he is not getting the specific help he needs. At his teacher conference, his teacher told me that he might benefit from the special autism program in another city, but there is a good chance he won't be able to go next year, due to the wait list, but she is… read more
