My 2 1/2 year old son was just diagnosed with ASD. She said under DSM 4 he falls under autistic disorder but under DSM 5 it's level 2. I asked what that exactly meant and she said it pretty much means he has sever Autism. Has anyone else had this diagnosis? What should I expect?

Obsession With Opening/closing Doors

My 3yr old son is obsessed with doors, especially opening/closing them.
He exhibits this behavior mostly around us( mom/dad). Any ideas on addressing this?

My nephew's the same. We try to stop him and have taken out all doors in their house except the front door, bathroom and garden door in the kitchen

I usually would let my son look at me first, eye contact is important and then use a calm voice, making sure he can hear me and then give him a chance to respond being patient for his response.

Need Help With A Licking Problem!
