Guardianships & Conservatorships Attorneys In CA (Orange County)
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am looking for an attorney to help us to file for the guardianships and conservatorships...any referrals? Thanks.

My son recently turned 18, so this is a concern of mine, as well. I received some information from his Regional Center caseworker that had a couple of lawyer referrals. I have not contacted them… read more

STL SPED ATTORNEYS...
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I need an attorney who's reason for living is SPED Law. Fat chance, huh? Wait...it get's better...I also need this attorney to practice in the Greater STL area and not wipe out our checking, savings, retirement, kids college, etc...
This is a rare scenario in which the parents have every single document and record in place.

We need the messiah of attorneys to relentlessly argue our cases and leave us victorious, but not broke.

Is An FBA Required For A Crisis Intervention Plan To Be Put Into An IEP
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been trying to get an IEP meeting set up for my son since before school began in order to have a crisis intervention plan put into his IEP as well as address some modifications that need to be made in the IEP. The school is giving me fits about having a meeting before they complete an FBA that was supposed to be completed at the end of the school year but was not finalized (their mistake) so now instead of just updating the data, they have to start all over again. I still want the IEP… read more

How would I go about getting an aid for my son he is pddnos and adhd. He is 5 years would his therapist and shrink are requestion and aid with me. I have an IEP meeting set up to talk about it. But his headstart teacher jumped my throat today saying that there is no point that he wont be approved for an aid and that he only acts up for me. Boy how I wanted to tell her off. She has on clue how he acts around other people she only sees him at school for 4 hours. My son learns better one on one… read more

Emphatize with the struggles. Understand, though, the district's strategy is to stress you out and wear you out. As intelligent and diligent as we are, trained attorneys go to special education… read more

Appling For SSI For Child With ASD
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, I applied for SSI for my child when he was 4 and was denied twice. The reason stated was he wasn’t impaired enough. I think I was too optimistic when answering the case workers questions. And what should have been no’s or I don’t know I said he’s attempting. Which I’m sure can only be interpreted as a yes he can. My sister thinks I should reapply, but I’m not so sure. Has anyone applied, got denied, tried again and got different results. Thanks so much for any and all info and/or advice.

A MyAutismTeam Member

From my understanding, the best way to get SSI is with a lawyer. If you try first on your own it impairs the process and makes it even more difficult with each try. But dont feel defeated, there are… read more

My 7y/o Has Just Been Diagnosed With PDD, It Was Suggested We Apply For SSDI. How Do We Go About That?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Our son has in school services. But it was recommended that he has in home services. We know that there is cost to the in home services & insurance usually does not cover. Would SSDI be the right avenue to go & do we need an attorney to get that? We are still in the process of getting him into counseling through the county mental health department. But we really do not know how to proceed with this. Thanks for any suggestions.
