My son is very picky and sometimes he just doesn't want food at all. I'll offer food over and over, his favorites, new foods, fast foods, junk foods, sometimes NOTHING works and he just won't eat. Sometimes offering junk food or fast food does the trick but he mostly just doesn't seem to want food. We're giving him pedicure, he's always been a skinny mini (his dad was SUPER skinny as a kid too) but I know that he's almost underweight so I want to know if this is common? What are some of the… read more

Hi, we live in England but will be visiting my family in the USA for three weeks. I am worried about buying food. My son is a picky eater plus he is intolerant of dairy, wheat, banana and mango. Here in England most food is clearly labeled for food allergies, plus shops have a special "free from" section. GM food is not permitted, and most harmful artificial colors are banned.
I wondered if gluten free food is widely available in supermarkets? Do groceries have a "free from" section… read more

Picky eater problems
Fear not! I don’t know which way it will go, but the only person you need to check in with is his doctor. When my son was about 1 1/2 to 2, he would eat chicken, french toast, smiley fries, yogurt and… read more
I will be seeing an allergist doctor in two weeks, I will definitely ask for an allergy food guide. My daughter went from eating her meals and then stopped. Now she only eats a few favorites. Thanks… read more
I had a similar issue but it also started when speech started working on accepting new foods in that if he didn't want the food, he could throw it away. Which was great because he was touching new… read more
My son is almost three and nonverbal. He has not ate solid foods since he was one and a half. He only drinks from a bottle just milk but I do mix yogurts in them when I can get him to drink it. He also drinks PediaSure. His iron levels are good and he is healthy no problem with weight loss, sleep well and is active. I'm currently on a waiting list to get a diagnosis. He is fearful of anything coming near his mouth he doesn't put toys in his mouth, but he also doesn't allow us to brush his teeth… read more
Reagan, I figured you did, but wanted to share, maybe someone could use the information. That's a good idea, super food powder, I may try that method for my daughter Janelle. You know down the line we… read more
Hi! My daughter is almost 4 (diagnosed with Lvl3 autism at age 2. She,at the moment, will only drink chocolate pediasure and whole milk (with
chocolate 😒 ) her father and I have tried everything to get her to eat food, but she will not. (Mind you- she did used to eat but very slowly stopped and preferred liquid only, so I really don’t think it could be a jaw issue or anything like that?)We’ll make her a plate and it’ll go untouched each and every time, sometimes she’ll play with the food/throw… read more
No don't take away the pediasure . Don't do the "wait until they get hungry " trust they will go without eating. Starving them is not the answer. I'm sorry I'm in the same boat as you . I'm reading… read more
When I was around eight years old, I began to have anger issues. I had outbursts, would call people names, and would even hit others. It came to a head when I slapped my grandmother in front of my family. My mother took me to a therapist and after three or so months I was much better. She didn't conclude I was Autistic for some reason, but that's a whole other story.
My son avoids conflict. He only hits himself if he's stressed out & overwhelmed. He's never had any angry outbursts or anything like that. I try to keep a very positive, calm & relaxing environment… read more
Does anyone else have a problem with their kids putting too much food in their mouth at once? Little Man will literally put almost an entire half sandwich in his mouth at once and then try to chew it up. Is this an autism/sensory thing? That possibility just occured to me today but I don't know if there's actually a connection there. Anyone else have experience with this?
@vwmommy-Unfortunately, one of the twin autistic females in our family who is 23yrs old has been doing this for 10 years. We constantly have to watch her because there have been a few times that all… read more
My son is four years old and is largely non-verbal. Like most children with ASD, he’s a fussy eater but its now to a point where he’s on a liquid diet for nutrients because he won’t eat much. Things he ate a few months ago he doesn’t want anymore. Because of this he’s always constipated so that’s another huge ordeal getting him to go potty. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions on how I can introduce new foods without him screaming and throwing it on the floor. It’s a bit… read more
Agree with hopie. Let him eat what he wants, you'll drive yourself mad trying to get him to eat "healthy" all the time. Our son always eats sand so he gets constipated. The pediatrician told us to… read more
