My son, Logan, started sticking his hands down the back of his diaper and picking them and leaving cotton everywhere. I have recently caught him eating it and fear he will get sick. Is there something I can do to stop this bad habbit other than scolding or yelling at him? I have tried cloth diapers but school will not allow it. I tried potty training and he is not ready..
Any more recent ideas on the diaper picking?
My son was very close to potty trained from age 6-8 but regressed after some medical issues and lost the skills. 2 years ago he would sit on the toilet with the lid closed. In our current apartment, he refuses to get near the toilet and definitely not sit on it. Has anyone had any luck potty training with an older child who has been in pull ups a long time?
All I know is that a 'Distraction' (one that preferably makes them laugh) is a great motivator.
So have a Tech Device or even a simple toy as a distraction while they are in there.
Potty training ugh!

My 4 year old son is nonverbal, diagnosed with level 2 autism. I've just started an attempt at potty training, but with not much success. He will sit on the potty but very briefly. He shows no sign that he has to "go" and is not bothered at all by a full diaper. I've tried setting a timer, offering rewards and set up a little potty area with books but I'm not having much luck. Any tips or support would be so appreciated!
I hope you do ok.
My son is 5.....he has HFA, ADHD combo, SPD, and Pica.....he will use the potty at school but fights at home.....he doesn't mind sitting in soiled or wet pull ups or underwear.....he will go potty if he is changing and has to go.....so now my questions......
How long will this last?
Why doesn't it bother him to be in soiled or wet pull ups or underwear?
Why don't rewards work?
Am I alone in this?
