Pregnant With Second Baby-- I Have No Idea What To Expect!
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’

We just found out we are finally pregnant with our second baby after trying for years...our son Milo is three and recently diagnosed with a very mild form of autism. I don't know what to expect with an autistic child as far as explaining to him what's going on, how he will act with a baby, what it will be like if the new baby is not autistic and develops faster in some areas than him...I would love advice on ways to prepare Milo for a baby and ways to help him adjust when the baby arrives...

Challenging Behaviour

I don’t suppose he could have something that simulates riding on a bus? He might like the motion. Or a treadmill?

Compulsive Throwing Away Things.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’

My son wants to throw things away. I have no idea why he wants to do this. But he wants to throw things away so badly that he actually will rip up items so he "justify" throwing them away. He throws away books, clothes, food, etc. It happens every day, throughout the day, and multiple times per day.

He's 18 so I can't physically stop him. I am able to delay him. He also gets sneaky about it to the extent of getting up during the night to throw things away.

Ideas anyone?

Did you ever find a solution to this? Currently dealing with the exact same behavior.

This is just anecdotal: my sister in law has taken Prozac with all 4 of her kids and all 4 are ASD. However, I ~never~ took Prozac (or any SSRI/ psych drug, not even Tylenol, etc...) while pregnant… read more

Did Anyone Get A Flu Shot During Early Pregnancy And Now Have A Child With Autism Or Seizures?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question đź’

I know they says it's safe, but here I am thinking back on life and wondering about that shot. I had a swine flu shot at 6 weeks pregnant. My son was born with cortical dysplasia affecting his entire brain. He just had the left temporal lobe of his brain removed because of seizures. He is nonverbal with autistic feature. I have two other boys, and neither have issues. I didn't do anything different in my pregnancies other than that shot. I know it's awful to look back, but I just can't stop… read more
