My son is 6 years old has been diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome since February 2013 and also has ADHD w/ anger. Since the time has changed and the weather change it doesn't take much to cause him to have a meltdown and then he gets so so so mad.. We try everything that we can think of but nothing is working.. And this is just since the time changed and weather changed about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I have asked the PAP( pediatric adolscent psychiatrist) and all they tell me it is a sensory issue and a… read more
I think the time change has my son all out of sorts this week. Oddly, in January he had great behavior in school. Since then he has been more defiant at home and school. Now that we changed our… read more

My little guys loves the movie ChickenLittle. There is a song by Art Garfunkel (I'm old) called All I Know in it, and I try to keep those lyrics in mind when things go bad.
This is the solution that has worked for my child. He is 10 years old. This has worked for him for about 3 years. Prior to that, he had other medications but they did not work or had side effects… read more
What are everyone’s thoughts about Melatonin? I have a lot of confusion about it myself. Some say no way it’s terrible for kids, others say it’s safe and helps everyone. My doctor didn’t quit answer when I asked he just asked why I stopped giving it to my son. Overall I just want to know if anyone actually has an answer. Not to use everyday but in moderation.
So, melatonin affects people differently. For our son, we have to give him melatonin. We have tried without, tried changing hours of naps and bedtimes, tried other remedies, tried no nap at all… read more
My son has never been the best sleeper since he was born. He was not a napper at all, but lately my 9 year old has not been sleeping through the night. He wakes up at 1 and 3 in the morning and doesn't go back to sleep so he's dragging when it comes to going to school. We use melatonin, which does help him go to sleep by at the very latest 9p and keep him asleep at least until 5, 530a or later. But the last few months it just isn't working. I'm getting a outlet timer so he can't turn on the TV… read more
I don’t know if this will help or not but, to me, it’s like your kiddos brain is telling him he’s awake or needs to be awake. Yeah, physical activity is great and all but if our ASD kids aren’t being… read more
I have had my two children (6&4) sleeping with me for the last 6 months or so exclusively. Before that, my daughter with sleep issues would get up between 10pm and 3am every night and crawl in bed, or wake up no later than 4am daily, or both. For me it's less disruptive to my sleep to just have my kids in here, although privacy (didn't have much to begin with) goes out the window for the most part. So, I gave up. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks right now. Others in my household don't agree… read more
I agree that what works for your family is what is best for your family. Personally I never let my kids sleep in my bed. I have two neuro typical kids (now adults) and one teen with ASD and sleep… read more
Good Evening Everyone. So My son has a bonding thing when sleeping. He can not sleep alone. He is now 13 years old & STILL refuses to sleep alone. Before I would lay with him until he dozed off then go to my bed when he's asleep. As he is getting older I would then sit on the edge of the bed until he goes to sleep. Today as I type this I wanted to try a different method now that he is officially a teenager. I am sitting on a chair outside his room until he dozes off but he is tossing & turning &… read more

Has any one has success with white noise, pink noise brown? My son already takes meds to sleep but it’s the falling asleep that he has issues with. It was suggested to try a noise machine but when I started to research- so many. I had no idea. Has anyone had better success with one compared to another.
